Lanier National Speedway Announces Partial 2011 Schedule
Two race dates in January will leave the race fans with five fun days at the track.
Braselton, GA July 19, 2010 – Lanier National Speedway officials released today the partial schedule for the 2011 season, yes part of the coldest months, but the coolest for any race fan during the winter season, when racing used to be just a dream and months away of wishing. The January 2011 schedule will feature the fan favorites Pro Late Model division racing on January 8th, and 9th, when NASCAR Sprint Cup racer David Ragan hosts the 4th annual Ice Cold Shiners’ Bowl, featuring the Pro Late Models battling it out for 100 laps around the tough 3/8th’s mile asphalt oval. Many of your local favorite divisions will be on hand to warm up the chill bumps and lay the bumper to their closest rivals in the New Year.
Celebrating the end of the month will be the return of Speedfest 2011, for Pro Late Models and Super Late Models, taking the green flag on January 28th, 29th and 30th. Speedfest 2010 saw one of the most exciting finishes in the Pro Late Model twin bill of the Speedfest feature, as local favorite Casey Roderick held off the hard charging NASCAR star Kyle Busch until a late race spin sent Roderick and Busch to the back allowing another local favorite Greg Simpson, (the 2009 Speedfest winner) to take the checkered flag for his 2nd Speedfest victory. The Super Late Models will once again fill out the second half of the Speedfest bill, as they battle for 250 laps around the historic Lanier National Speedway. Recapping the 2010 Super Late Model event, saw Busch capture the checkered, the first of his many races in the 2010 season.
“We are pleased to be able to announce this early in the year that yes, we will be swinging open the gates, and excited to host two of the biggest racing events of the year, and invite everyone with a race car, or visions of wanting to see a race to go ahead and plan on making your visit to Lanier National Speedway for both of these weekends,” said Lanier National Speedway owner Donnie Clack.
Local divisions scheduled to compete for THE SHRINER RACE in January will be the US Legend Cars International Bandolero’s, Legend cars, Mini-Stock, Outlaw Late Models, and the ever popular Super Trucks. Lanier National Speedway offers plenty of grandstand seating, for the brave at heart, and for the climate controlled individuals, rows and rows of trackside parking.

Legends Racers Eligible to Compete for $5000 The Georgia Grand in August
HAMPTON, Ga. (May 14, 2010) – Atlanta Motor Speedway and Lanier Speedway have partnered to host The Georgia Grand with a total $5,000 purse for Legends competitors on Saturday, Aug. 14 at Lanier Speedway in Braselton.
The Georgia Grand will award a $5,000 purse to the top-15 finishing Legends competitors in The Georgia Grand points series, including $2,000 to the winner of the race. Legends competitors must enter a minimum of five summer racing events at both Atlanta Motor Speedway and Lanier Speedway to qualify for the Georgia Grand. If a competitor has not raced in at least 10 summer events and five at each facility, the driver will not be eligible to compete.
In addition to cash prizes, the champion of The Georgia Grand will also win suite tickets to Atlanta Motor Speedway’s Labor Day NASCAR night racing event and will be introduced on the Pre-Race Stage prior to the start of the race.
Competitors will amass INEX points at each of the tracks during the 2010 season and their total INEX points (minus their two worst finishes at each track) will be combined with Qualifying points to determine each competitor’s starting position in The Georgia Grand Heat Races. Heat Race finishes will determine the final lineup for The Georgia Grand race.
Legends classes will be combined for The Georgia Grand.
In addition to The Georgia Grand race, Bandolero competitors will compete for prizes in lieu of a cash purse. The Bandolero feature will mirror the Legends event in format and Bandolero classes will be combined for the race. The winner of the Bandolero feature will also win suite passes to Atlanta Motor Speedway’s Labor Day NASCAR night racing weekend and will be introduced on the Pre-Race Stage.
